Sustainability Report

January 1, 2021By: Riverside Communications

A Triple Bottom Line was the founding principle of Riverside Natural Foods when the company began in 2013. We knew that considering People, Planet and Profit in everything we did was the only way to build a successful company of which we could be proud. The Day One plan was to contribute to the world, and not just to take from it.Giving back, doing the right thing, and following our values were built into our DNA.

Riverside Foods: 2020 Sustainability Report cover

In our early days, our B Corp certification ensured our employees and partners that we could meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. As a B Corps we are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Becoming certified for Zero waste recognized our first steps towards becoming a part of the new circular economy where all resources are used and returned to the cycle. As our business grew, we were able to provide good jobs with benefits to over 400 employees and their families. Our products focused on healthy ingredients and we worked, along with our carefully chosen partners, to create organic, great tasting and nutritious snacks.

Early in 2020 we realized it was time to formalize our intentions in our Purpose:

To inspire a healthier and more compassionate world.

As one step in our journey to fulfilling our Purpose, we created our first Sustainability Report. This report summarizes our accomplishments on the path to becoming a truly sustainable company and sets our intentions for the future. We must first make sure our own house is in order.Energy conservation in our facilities, providing the safest work environment possible, further integrating Diversity and Inclusion into our culture, and understanding our partners’ sustainability efforts are important aspects of our sustainability plans and are outlined in our report.Everything we do and everyone we deal with must work cohesively towards fulfilling our purpose.

We invite you to read our report and join us on our journey as we build our sustainable company for the future.
